Configure organization settings
Open your organization's settings page and set three things: the default language, the timezone, and the reply-to email. The reply-to email is used on the invitation emails candidates receive, so replies land with your team instead of disappearing. The organization timezone is the default for every delivery's time window — a delivery falls back to your browser's zone if it isn't set, and each cohort can still pick its own.
You do not have to complete everything before moving on. Any setting you leave empty falls back to the product default, and you can return to the settings page at any point to change it.
Invite your teammates
SkillCort has four workspace roles: owner, admin, recruiter, and evaluator. Access to reports and results is scoped by role, so assign each teammate the role that matches their job — for example, the people who will score candidate responses join as evaluators. Every score in the record is attributed to a named evaluator with a timestamp, so invite evaluators under their own accounts rather than sharing a login.
- Owner and admin — the broadest access, including audit pack export.
- Recruiter — runs the hiring side; can export the audit pack once results are released.
- Evaluator — scores candidate responses against the shared rubric.
Prepare your item library
Assessments draw their questions from the item library, so a little structure up front pays off. Organize the library into folders, and use tags within each folder to slice items further. Note that tags are folder-scoped: the same tag label in two different folders is treated as two different tags, so plan folder boundaries around how you will search later.
You can add items by hand, bulk-import questions from a CSV (paste rows or upload a file — a template is provided), or generate draft items with AI. AI generation requires a destination folder, so create at least one folder before you generate.
Know the flow ahead
Everything in SkillCort follows one pipeline: items in the library feed the assessment builder, every assessment ships with a delivery you configure right in the builder, publishing unlocks inviting candidates — by email, a public link, codes, or credentials — evaluators score the responses, and the Decision Board turns those scores into a decision. Once your settings, team, and library are in place, you are ready to build your first assessment.
