SkillCort Legal
Refund Policy
When fees are refunded, and when they are not. Applies to customer organizations; candidates never pay SkillCort. Effective August 9, 2026.
This policy explains how refunds work for the SkillCort platform, provided by SkillCort LLC. It forms part of the Terms of Use: the Terms state that fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated, and this page is where the exceptions are expressly stated. Where an Order Form sets different refund terms, the Order Form prevails.
1. Candidates
Candidates never pay SkillCort. If you took an assessment and were asked to pay someone, that payment was not to us — contact the organization that invited you, and let us know at privacy@skillcort.com.
2. When we refund
- Billing errors. Duplicate charges, charges after a properly cancelled subscription, or amounts different from the agreed price are refunded in full once verified.
- Termination for our uncured material breach. If the Customer terminates the Agreement because SkillCort materially breached it and did not cure within the notice period in the Terms, we refund the prepaid fees for the unused part of the term, pro rata.
- Service discontinuation. If we discontinue the Service or a purchased capability and no reasonable equivalent is offered, prepaid fees for the unused part of the term are refunded pro rata.
- Where the law requires it. Nothing here limits rights that mandatory applicable law grants and that cannot be contracted away.
3. What is not refundable
- Cancellation for convenience. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing term, and fees already paid for that term are not refunded.
- Used capacity. Assessment credits and candidate volume that have been consumed, and pilot engagements after the pilot has been delivered.
- Unused credits at expiry. Credits that lapse unused at the end of their validity period, as set in the plan or Order Form.
- Suspension for cause. Periods during which the Service was suspended under the Terms (for example non-payment or a security threat) are not refunded.
4. How to request a refund
Email privacy@skillcort.com from an account owner or admin address, with the invoice number and the reason. We respond within 10 business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method; where that is impossible, by the method the invoice was settled with.
5. Disputes
If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us before initiating a chargeback — most billing issues are resolved faster that way, and an open dialogue avoids the account suspension that unexplained chargebacks can trigger under the Terms.
