The available controls

Each delivery has its own security configuration, edited in the builder's Delivery & security panel — you can change it at any time, and changes apply to candidate sessions started after the change. The full set of controls is:

• Lockdown mode (secure exam) — keeps the attempt in fullscreen, with a violation policy (warn only, pause the exam, auto-submit, or flag for review) and optional violation limits.
• Copy/paste blocking — blocks copy and paste, and logs attempts.
• Print blocking — blocks printing, and logs attempts.
• Second-screen detection — an extra display blocks the start with a "check again" option; connecting one mid-exam raises a banner and logs an event.
• Webcam recording.
• Screen recording.
• ID check.
• Safe Exam Browser — an advanced external-app option; SkillCort's lockdown mode itself needs no extra software.

Match controls to stakes

Integrity in SkillCort is proportional: the right configuration depends on what the assessment decides. A low-stakes practice run may need no controls at all. A screening assessment might warrant lockdown and copy/paste blocking. Reserve the heavier controls — webcam, screen recording, ID check, Safe Exam Browser — for high-stakes decisions where the added friction is justified.

Every control you enable adds requirements to the candidate's setup and to your review workload, since recorded signals exist to be reviewed. Enable what the stakes warrant, and no more.

Disclosure at the consent gate

Nothing is monitored silently. Before starting, every candidate passes a consent and preflight gate that states exactly what is monitored for that delivery and checks their setup — including camera access when the configuration needs it. Candidates therefore know the rules before the first question, and second-screen detection resolves setup problems (with its "check again" option) before the attempt begins.

Every signal is human-reviewed

Integrity events — tab switch and window blur episodes, copy/paste attempts, second-screen connects, fullscreen exits, exceeded caps — appear as a reviewable timeline in evaluation. They are context for a person's judgment, not verdicts: nothing auto-rejects a candidate.

Even the strictest outcome follows this rule. With the auto-submit policy, exceeding a violation cap submits the attempt with an audit event — and a human still reviews it. The other policies warn, pause the exam until fullscreen returns, or flag the attempt for review without ending it.
